Site Backgrounds Galore! Volume 1 Instructions: These 100 backgrounds are ready to use. They are sized and saved in GIF format for the web. These files were designed take up very little space, so they load very quickly. The names contain no spaces and/or 'special' characters that the web will not allow. All you have to do is incorporate them into your web page and upload them to your web space. With a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) program, this is simple. If you use good-ole HTML programming for your page, you will need to use the proper HTML code for the site. The code for backgrounds is included within the first BODY tag of a page. This is how the HTML would likely look on your page: Of course, you would replace the 'Graphic.GIF' with the exact name of the graphic you plan to use. Always keep the '.GIF' part in the graphic name. It needs to be there. You can change the name of the graphic itself, but always remember to leave the '.GIF' on the end. If you do change the name of your graphic, make sure you change the name in the HTML code. Also make sure that you have the graphic uploaded to your web space. You should be able to easily open the graphics using any program that opens GIF pictures. ClarisWorks, GraphicConverter, America Online, and other programs will open these graphics. It is recommended, however, that you do not receive these files in another program. I used GraphicConverter to get these graphics the proper size If you re-save them in another program, you may loose the size of the graphic. You should use and upload these graphics as they are. If you like them, you can also use them as desktop patterns. To do this, simply open the files from a Graphics Program, open your 'Desktop Patterns' control panel, and copy-paste the pattern into the panel. These graphics look pretty spiffy on your desktop. It is a good way to test their look as a pattern. Shareware Info: These 100 backgrounds are distributed as shareware. If you use or keep these patterns for any reason, you are expected to pay the shareware fee. The fee for these 100 graphics is only $5. Pretty good, eh? You do not have to give me credit for the background on your site, but it would be nice. You could also ad a link to my web page (http://members.aol.com/radarmen99). When you pay, you will also receive 20 more backgrounds and a cool startup screen. I will e-mail these to you. Please support my shareware and pay the $5 fee. I thank all the people who have paid for my other shareware. To register, just use the form I included on the next page of this documentation. Print it out, fill it out, and send it to the address below. The form is not required, but it makes things easier. You can pay by cash, check, or money order. It does not matter to me. Just wrap the payment in one sheet of paper (preferably the form) and send it to -- Shay Fulton 1315 North 7th Temple, TX 76501 Please make checks payable to Shay Fulton. Thank you for supporting shareware. I hope you backgrounds add life to your web site! E-mail me with any questions or comments -- AOL screen name-- RadarMen99 Internet -- radarmen99@aol.com Other Info: 'What tools did you use to design the page?' I used a combo of ClarisWorks 3.0 and GraphicConverter 4.2. Those are the best low-cost graphic tools for the job. 'What is the term for these site backgrounds?' I call them BAKs. Why? Well. . . I just do. 'Do you have a web site?' Why, as a matter of fact, I do! It is . It is a site of Mac news, tips, surveys, contests, site reviews, and other cool stuff. Mac Mac Mac! 'Do you spend all the money in one place?' You kiddin? How can I not, with the prices of hardware and software! 'What else do you have available?' For now, most of my shareware is desktop patterns and startup screens. I hope to move on to programming one day. You can download my shareware from AOL (software search for RadarMen99), or on the internet at my web site (http://members.aol.com/radarmen99). 'Can I distribute this file on a disk?' Sure. All I ask is that you e-mail me and 'ask' first. I do like to know where my file is going. Feel free to give it to a pal. However you decide to distribute it, make sure you keep the file as is. Do not add or take away anything. 'Will there be more backgrounds in the future?' Yup. 'Do you believe in Macintosh?' More than ever.
