December, 1996 Dear User: FR_GRAM2.ZIP, which you now have, is a small collection of files that includes (or relates to) my FRGRAM2.EXE TSR, Version 2 of Basic French Grammar in Hypertext. This new shareware version, unlike my earlier version (FRGRAM1.EXE) is the same complete presentation of all of the basic French grammar components that anyone who registers this software will receive. You are, however, indeed encouraged to register this TSR by completing the order form - REGISTFG.DOC - which is part of the ZIP file that you downloaded or received from another party. As a gentle reminder to register, the opening screen of the shareware version is the screen to which you are always returned when you press the Home key. FRGRAM2 - French Grammar in Hypertext: a TSR - is a DOS-based program that the author had often wished for. It is now available in DEMO and registered versions. Indeed any computing individual who is involved and/or interested in mastering more than the basics of French Grammar, via an interactive glossary, may wish to review and evaluate this TSR. When installed from a hard drive, FRGRAM2 will remain hidden until you call it by pressing a hotkey combination (Ctrl+G). (To install FRGRAM2, type the following characters: FRGRAM2 and then press ENTER. A message will appear to inform you that FRGRAM2 "is now resident in RAM" and the appropriate hot-keys will have to be pressed to pop it onto the screen.) When popped in the DOS environment, the TSR opens on the monitor screen as a scrollable menu that provides access to more than 160 French gram- mar-related glossary items that are hyperlinked to one or more screens. On the basis of these items, an additional 200 full screens or overlap- ping screens are likewise hyperlinked and thus accessible at the press of the ENTER key when the cursor is on the appropriate link or reference. (There are 425 hyperlinks in FRGRAM2 - giving you immediate access to a variety of grammatical details, if or when you wish to explore such.) The opening screen of FRGRAM2.EXE has a hperlink to a series of other screens that act as tutorial or guide. Following but a few minutes of interaction with the hypertextual guide, the user is able to navigate the hypertextual French grammar. To the word processing individual or to an otherwise-involved French language learner, FRGRAM2 brings quick access to illustrated answers regarding the common and basic components of French grammar and other related aspects of modern-day French. Once a glossary item has been accessed - via a hyperlink -, the user is often able to press the PageDown key to continue browsing one or several additional screens. After viewing that one or several pertinent screens, the user may press PageUp once or more times to return to the main menu. The REGISTERED USER, as mentioned above, may return to the main menu at any time simply by pressing the HOME key. The link labeled "tour", which appears in the opening screen, may be of interest to some if not all users of FRGRAM2. It consists of a series of common questions that anyone learning French may wonder about. The answers are accessed hypertextually, since they are part of the content of the TSR. Information regarding registration and the cost of FRGRAM2.EXE and that of other items is in the REGISTFG.DOC file. An order form is likewise available and printable when you PageDown after accessing the opening screen of FRGRAM2. (To print the form, after having accessed the screen, press the ESCape key and then select the print option from the pull- down menu.) Before attempting to install and view FRGRAM2, at the DOS prompt type this: FG2GUIDE, press ENTER and then read that text also. (And now, finally, a reminder: install FRGRAM2.EXE from your hard drive - NOT FROM a diskette.) Good luck! = Bonne chance! Once again, thank you. = Encore une fois, merci. BGP P.S. You are invited to down- ³ ³ load the file and evaluate that TSR too. To make your perusal of ³ ³ FRVERBS2 easier, should you decide to download it (i.e., FR_VRBS1. ³ ³ ZIP), I am including, in this FR_GRAM2.ZIP, my FV2_HELP.EXE which ³ ³ will give you a guided tour of FRVERBS2.
