Find out if you have the latest version of Personal Stock Monitor by using the Software Update Wizard under the Help menu. You can sort on a column by clicking on the column header. Clicking a second time reverses the order of the sort. You can rearrange columns by dragging them with your mouse to the desired position. You can bring up the symbol properties by double-clicking on the symbol. You can rename a symbol by doing a slow double-click on the symbol name. You can move toolbars around, and dock them to any side of the window, by dragging them with the mouse. You can define multiple categories for your holdings, and each category will be totalled separately when viewed. You can export data using one of six different file formats using the Export command under the File menu. You can resize columns by dragging the column divider. You can easily minimize the width of a column by double clicking on the column divider in the header. You can display graphs in either a horizontal or vertical split window. The default is vertical, but you can manually split the window horizontally from the View menu. You can enter mixed upper and lower case symbol if you disable the Force to Upper Case option in General Preferences. Fractions will be displayed as decimals if the number is not an exact multiple of 1/64th. You can get bring up the properties dialog for a symbol on the ticker bar by right-clicking on the symbol as it passes by, and selecting the Properties item. You can adjust the speed and smoothness of ticker bar scrolling in Ticker Bar Properties. You can configure PSM to use Dial-Up Networking to automatically connect to your Internet Service Provider when necessary, and disconnect after updates are finished. You can move the Ticker Bar around the screen by clicking near its outer edge and dragging it. It can be docked to either the top or bottom of the screen. You can move the list of symbols in the Ticker Bar to the right or left by clicking on the middle of the bar and dragging it with your mouse. You can double-click on a symbol in the ticker bar to display its detailed properties. You can create cash symbols with the '@' prefix character, ie. '@cash'. The value of a @ symbol can be anything you wish, such as the amount of cash in your brokerage account. You can set the value of @ symbols by doing a slow double-click on the symbol, or using the Set Value command under the Symbol menu. You can enter lower case and mixed case symbols by disabling "force symbols to upper case" in General Preferences. You can choose to display numbers in decimal or fraction form by selecting the desired setting in General Preferences. In the Asset Allocation pie chart, you can bring up the detailed properties for a symbol by double-clicking on its pie slice. A symbol can belong to more than one category at the same time. Use the Categories command under the Symbol menu to select the categories. The graph will display a DataTip when you pass your cursor directly over a data point. You may also click on a data point to activate the DataTip. You can display a grid over the Securities or Transaction views to make looking at long rows of data easier. This option is located in the View Properties dialog.
